Day 6:
Left: Battle Creek camp site, South Dakota at 8am
Arrived: South Fork park camp site at 11pm
States: South Dakota, Wyoming
Via: The Bad Lands, Mount Rushmore.

Welcome to teh mid west, we're currently driving on the i90 through South Dakota towards the bad lands..
And 251 miles later we're here. They look amazing. The bad lands are basically vast desert like land with huge mounds of rock and muck weathered to really undulating spikes and crevesas.
We did a mini hike around a trail there to see some of it. Needless to say we went off the trail and into the trees trying to climb one of the rock mounds. We later saw big warning signs for Prarie Rattle Snakes and not to leave the paths..
We hit the i90 then again and headed 170 miles to Rushmore, the mountin with the presidents heads carved into it. That was pretty cool although we decided to give the lighting up ceremoy a miss.. apparently, they light up the heads with the american flag and everyone sings teh national anthem. We had planned to stop there but we decided to keep driving for a few more hours (it was about 6pm). We drove through our second time zone (we are now in mountin time, GMT - 7) When we got off the interstate, it was 10pm, dark, and we really didn't know where we were or what we were going to do for teh night. As you may have guessed, Wyoming isn't the most populated (infact it's the least populated state) so we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere. An hour's mountin drive later and having passed several "now entering bear country USA" signs, we found a camp site (well a clearign in the middle of a forest designated for camping) so we set up camp there. Luckely another group camping there gave us a powerful torch to help set up, We got some fire wood from the forest, lit a fire and sat out watching the most star filled sky I'd ever seen. T'was quite a good night when we finally got sorted out.

River Missouri.

Myself at the Badlands.

The bad lands again.

The lads.

The i90 runs right the way across from the east coast to the west coast. We've driven about 2000 miles on it so far.
